The construction engineer needs to possess the proper knowledge of estimating, planning and controlling the costs associated with construction projects.
Estimating:
· Prepares and maintains status of plans/drawings
· Review bid requirements thoroughly
· Solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors
· Performs a comprehensive “bid day” analysis and scoping of specific assigned trades
· Ensures that we have the proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day
· Contact supply houses to obtain additional subcontractor bids
· Shows creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from subcontractors
· Include value- engineering ideas on every bid
Project Management:
· Design and maintain all construction technical catalogs and prepare supplier data
· Coordinate with project manager and administer efficient working of construction process
· Monitor lifecycle of all projects and prepare all project controls
· Evaluate all projects and recommend various cost savings methods
· Understands how to fit subcontractors to the size/ scope of project
General Requirements:
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills
· Must know Microsoft Office products including, Word, Excel, and Project Management
· Must be self- motivated and punctual
· Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills both internally and externally
· Must be professional and polished in appearance and speech
